49th AEQCT SYMPOSIUM HIGHLIGHTS INNOVATIONS AND COLLABORATION IN TEXTILE INDUSTRY
Terrassa, Barcelona April 11, 2024 – The 49th Symposium of the Spanish Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AEQCT) took place in Terrassa at the Museu Nacional de la Ciència i la Tècnica de Catalunya (MNACTEC), showcasing the rich history and promising future of the textile sector. The event, attended by over a hundred industry professionals, university teachers, students, etc., featured a diverse range of solutions and insights aimed at advancing the textile industry.
During the symposium, experts shared innovative ideas across various facets of textile production, including machinery, textile recycling, dyes, chemical auxiliaries, digitalization, and sustainable resource management. Attendees had the opportunity to learn from individuals of different backgrounds and ages, exchanging perspectives and fostering collaboration.
The symposium highlighted the importance of collaboration throughout the textile value chain. As one moderator stated, AEQCT serves as the essential link that connects industry stakeholders.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the 35th Award for Best Chemical Study Applied to Industry. After careful consideration by the jury, one standout finalist was honored for their technical excellence and contribution to industry innovation.
Through events like the AEQCT Symposium, the association continues to elevate the profile of the textile sector, showcasing its technological sophistication and resilience amid evolving challenges.
Additionally, AEQCT announced its involvement in organizing the XXVIIth IFATCC International Congress, scheduled to take place in Barcelona on September 30 and October 1, 2026. This upcoming event underscores AEQCT’s commitment to promoting international collaboration and knowledge exchange within the textile community.

New IFATCC President elected
During the 2024 Delegate Council Meeting of the IFATCC (12 April 2024) Mr Carlos Aguilar was elected as the new President of the IFATCC.
All IFATCC Members thank Mr Reinhard Zander for the excellent work done and wish Carlos good work, also in view of the 2026 IFATCC Congress (Barcelona)
